Volunteers give without expecting anything in return. The Volunteer of the Year Awards recognise and celebrate the vital contribution NSW’s 2.1 million volunteers make towards strengthening communities across the state.
The NSW Government is the founding sponsor of the awards and, since 2007.
The Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre team as well as 4 outstanding volunteers from Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre and Volunteering Coffs Harbour Incorporated, were recognised at the Mid North Coast awards, held at Port Macquarie Friday 26th August.
This event promotes the importance of volunteering through the awards. Coffs Harbour has already been recognised in the Australian Book of Records as the having the highest number of people living and volunteering in a Local Government Area. Every volunteer significantly contributes to the Coffs Harbour Community being as connected and diverse as it is. “Many of our local charities and organisation could not keep their doors open, or provide the array of services they do without volunteers, this includes our own services” said Di Woods.
I am delighted our team was recognised for the work they do. We operate with 4 staff and 63 volunteers. Each of our volunteers mentors another, each shares unique skills… its what makes our services works seamlessly to support with the array of community members we do. I know our organisation was just one of many who embraced this opportunity to recognise and celebrate our volunteers. Volunteering Coffs Harbour Inc, supports over 35 not-for profit services who currently have plenty of volunteer roles waiting to matched to someone who wants to share their skills. If anyone is considering volunteering, Volunteering Coffs Harbour provides a one-stop shop for you.
