Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre encourages everyone across our community to join in celebrating Wear it Purple Day on August 26 th . Wear it Purple sends a loud clear voice that our community is safe, supportive and inclusive for rainbow young people.
By wearing purple you can support awareness and conversation that Coffs Harbour shares values in celebrating and valuing diversity and inclusion throughout our communities, organisations and relationships. It raises awareness about sexuality, sex and gender identity and challenges harmful social cultures.
It is important that we send a loud clear message and stand up as role-models to help our young people establish confidence to be who they are.
Wear it Purple was founded in 2010 in response to the number of young people who took their own lives following bullying and harassment which resulted from lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity. Wear it purple was established to show young people, that there were people who did support and accept them and that they have the right to be proud of who they are.
Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre promotes equity and inclusivity. They welcome all community members to come and have one or all their nails painted purple on Friday 26 th August 9am-11am.
We encourage you to Wear it Purple.
